The independent speciality chemical manufacturer has announced a £1.5M investment in new multi-purpose capacity and a state-of-the-art cGMP plant at their manufacturing site in Consett, County Durham, UK.
The production capacity for their industrial leather fungicides (TCMTB) and specialist raw materials for personal care applications will be expanded and moved from older equipment into the existing modern ‘Keystone’ facility that will be expanded to accommodate the new equipment.
This investment will allow Thomas Swan to increase its production capacity of these key products, whilst improving the efficiency of its processes. The Keystone facility, that was commissioned in 2011, already uses an advanced computer-controlled operating system that will allow for state-of-the-art control of the manufacturing processes.
This is a large scale project for the company that will involve the installation of new glass-lined reactors and specialist raw material handling equipment, as well as associated services and ventilation. The project is being financed from cash reserves and is expected to take around 44 weeks to complete.
Clive O’Leary, Commercial Director for Performance Chemicals said “I’m delighted with the decision to invest in two of our key products and the Keystone building itself, both are fundamental to our growth strategy for my division and the company.”
Harry Swan, Managing Director said: “This is an important investment in our production capacity and capability. We are gradually upgrading our site to ensure modern equipment and procedures improve our efficiency, productivity and quality, in keeping with our customer’s expectations.”
