Thomas Swan appoints Michael Edwards as Business Director for its Advanced Materials Division

Thomas Swan & Co. Ltd. announced today that it has appointed Michael Edwards as Business Director for its Advanced Materials Division. Michael will start his employment with the company on 3^rd September 2018, replacing Prof. Stephen Bennington.

Michael will bring extensive knowledge and experience to Thomas Swan’s Advanced Materials business from his impressive career with companies such as Toshiba Electronics, Oxford Advanced Surfaces and most recently with Cambridge Nanotherm Ltd. as the Sales & Marketing Director. Michael’s initial focus will be to build upon the outstanding technical platform and commercial success of Thomas Swan’s graphene, and 2D products ranges, as well as identifying new opportunities for the division.

Commenting on the appointment Harry Swan, Managing Director of Thomas Swan said: “I’m delighted that Michael will be joining our Advanced Materials team. We have developed an excellent platform for the successful production of up to 20 tons per year of graphene and other 2D materials such as Boron Nitride. We now need to expand our commercial activities and Michael will be tasked with growing our sales and building our application work with key customers”.

Michael Edwards added: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining Thomas Swan to head up the Advanced Materials Division.  Creating business opportunities using Graphene and 2D Materials will be my primary focus where we already have the capability to scale-up volume production. In this current environment of significant change politically and economically it is a perfect time to join a forward-looking team creating new applications with our customers especially in the areas of power management and composites.”
