Thomas Swan Expands Consumer Actives Portfolio with Launch of Casamed™ BKC (Benzalkonium Chloride)

Thomas Swan, a long-standing leader in speciality chemical manufacturing with a heritage of reliability and quality, is excited to announce the addition of Casamed™ BKC (Benzalkonium Chloride) to its Consumer Actives product portfolio. This strategic expansion complements Thomas Swan’s existing range of antimicrobial actives and preservatives, building on our core competencies in current good manufacturing processes (cGMP), active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and Pharma product manufacturing.

Leveraging Thomas Swan’s expertise in high-quality manufacturing, Casamed™ BKC will be produced in compliance with USP (United States Pharmacopeia) and Ph. Eur. (European Pharmacopoeia) monographs and comply with cGMP practices. This reflects our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional products for sensitive applications from our Western European production facilities to a global customer base.

Casamed™ BKC (Benzalkonium Chloride), also known as BZK, BAC, BAK, or BKC, is a highly effective quaternary ammonium-based compound recognised for its versatile antimicrobial properties. It also functions as a cationic surfactant. This compound plays a crucial role as both an active ingredient and a preservative across a diverse range of applications, including Personal Care, Home Care, Animal Care, and Health and Pharma. Our European production facilities ensure that every batch of Casamed™ BKC meets the highest standards of quality and reliability.

Casamed™ BKC is produced using processed palm oil derivatives including a mass balance responsibly sourced palm oil grade. Thomas Swan has also developed a grade of Casamed BKC (Benzalkonium Chloride) based on coco amine which contains no palm oil derivatives offering formulation flexibility.
