Thomas Swan to showcase wide range of Rubber and Polymer additives at IEC 2024

Thomas Swan, a global leader in chemical manufacturing, is excited to announce its participation in the International Elastomer Conference (IEC) 2024. The event, taking place from September 9-12 in Pittsburgh, PA, USA, will see the company exhibiting at Booth 928. At this premier industry event, they will present an extensive range of innovative rubber and polymer performance additives.

The company’s comprehensive product portfolio is designed to meet the diverse needs of the rubber and polymer industries, offering solutions that enhance performance, durability, and processing efficiency. Their products are suitable for a wide array of applications, including tires, automotive, industrial, consumer goods, and more.

The Polymer Performance Solutions business unit at Thomas Swan offers a wide range of products for the polymer and rubber markets. These include Pepton® Peptizing Agents, Casamod™ Polar Modifiers, Casabond™ Bonding Agents, Casablend® Custom Chemical Blends, and Carbon Black Masterbatch, with most of these products produced using over 85% renewable energy at the company’s headquarters in the United Kingdom.

To further expand its product offerings, Thomas Swan has formed exclusive partnerships with leading companies to provide complementary products. This includes a partnership with Robinson Brothers Inc. for environmentally friendly and nitrosamine-free accelerators, as well as collaborations for Polymer Process Aids, Antioxidants, Silanes, Silicas, Traditional and Specialty Accelerators, and Reinforcing Carbon Nanomaterials.

One notable partnership is with Molecular Rebar Design, LLC, which has led to the production of MOLECULAR REBAR® (MR) – functionalized and discrete carbon nanotubes designed for numerous applications. These commercial-scale materials offer improved toughness, enhanced fatigue resistance, reduced heat build-up, and better chip, chunk, and tear resistance in various elastomers. MR is available in multiple forms, including oil carriers and polymer masterbatches, and is being explored for innovative applications, such as longer-lasting, more energy-efficient EV tires, and as a replacement for 6PPD.

Another key partnership is with Black Swan Graphene, which provides advanced nano-technology in the form of graphene nanoplatelets. Utilizing a patented high-pressure and high-shear exfoliation process, Thomas Swan offers these materials pre-dispersed in various polymers within the Black Swan GraphCoreTM GEM family of Graphene Enhanced Masterbatch products. These products deliver improved graphene dispersion, enhanced barrier and mechanical properties, as well as processing benefits such as reduced process temperatures and increased operational efficiencies.

Additionally, Thomas Swan is excited to announce a new partnership with Baerlocher USA, LLC, as its primary channel partner in the tire and industrial rubber products market. This collaboration will promote Baerlocher’s rubber additive product line, with particular emphasis on Baerlocher’s new Composite Zinc material. This innovative material enables rubber formulators to reduce ZnO loading levels, thereby improving ZnO leach rates without compromising part performance.

The Thomas Swan team of experts will be available at Booth 928 to provide insights into the latest industry trends, offer technical support, and discuss how their products can be customized to meet specific customer needs. The company’s commitment to innovation and customer service ensures that clients receive not only high-quality products but also comprehensive support and guidance.
